Inconvenience a Small Price to Pay for Safety Minimize

Since 9-11, Americans have come to realize that there is a trade-off between safety and convenience.  Routinely, folks are detained at airports as additional security checks are put in place to increase safety.

We face some of those same considerations here at Avoca.  Although you might be tempted to zip in a side door to pick-up your child in the afternoons, we ask that you instruct your children to go to the cafeteria where we can dismiss them in an organized way that helps us account for their whereabouts.  We have instructed safety patrols not to open doors in the afternoon.  Please do not get mad at the patrols as they are only following our instructions.  It’d just be too easy for a stranger or estranged relative to pop in, grab a child, and be out the door before we even realized there was a problem.

For that reason, we ask that you endure the additional hassle and time necessary to follow the car line around to the cafeteria to pick-up your child.  We’re not trying to make things harder than they need to be; we’re just trying to keep all of our students as safe as possible.
